The singer, now a glittering member of rock royalty, was then at the height of his drug addiction - though still ineffably stylish. He had been arrested in New York along with Iggy Pop and was held in Monroe County jail, Rochester, New York, for three hours before being released. Bowie was in his Thin White Duke phase, and by his own admission was subsisting on "red peppers, cocaine and milk". The mugshot was found in the trash at a former Rochester cop's house clearance by a local man. He is auctioning it to raise money for medical treatment for his sick brother. Such a pretty boy. I never actually liked his music much but he has style. And a shiny wife.
